Welcome to The Book Nest.

By accessing our website, subscribing to a membership, or participating in our book-swap program, you agree to the following terms.

1. Membership Overview

The Book Nest is a monthly book-swap subscription service that provides gently-loved children’s books to families in the United States.

By becoming a member, you agree to:

  • recurring monthly billing

  • returning your previous bundle before receiving a new one

  • following the Keep-a-Book and Replacement Fee policies

  • maintaining accurate account information

Memberships renew automatically unless canceled.

2. Billing & Payments

  • All plans renew monthly on your billing date.

  • Your payment method on file will be charged automatically.

  • By subscribing, you authorize The Book Nest to process recurring charges.

  • Billing is time-based, not usage-based. Swaps do not affect billing cycles.

  • Fees, including replacement costs, may be added to your account when applicable.

  • Sales tax may apply depending on your location.

Failed Payments

If payment fails:

  • The system will retry up to 3 times over 7 days.

  • If unsuccessful, your account may enter Pause Mode until updated.

3. Subscription Renewal & Cancellation

You may cancel anytime through your account or by emailing support.

Important:

  • Cancellation stops future renewals.

  • Canceling does not refund past charges.

  • All outstanding bundles must be returned before cancellation is finalized.

  • Replacement fees must be resolved for cancellation to process.

The Book Nest reserves the right to decline reactivation for accounts with unresolved issues.

4. Swaps & Returns

The Book Nest does not use due dates.
You may enjoy your books at your own pace.

Your next swap unlocks when:

  • your previous bundle is scanned by USPS using the provided prepaid label, and

  • your account is in good standing

Bundles must be returned in full unless a book is confirmed as “kept.”

If a bundle is not returned and no communication is received, your account may enter Pause Mode until the issue is resolved.

5. Keep-a-Book Option

Members may keep one book per bundle for a small replacement fee based on book type.

To avoid delays:

  • kept books must be confirmed in your account

  • unconfirmed “missing books” may pause your swap until resolved

Replacement fees are non-refundable.

6. Book Condition & Replacement Fees

All books are pre-owned and may show signs of gentle wear.

Normal wear is always acceptable.

However, books that are returned heavily damaged or unswappable may require a small replacement fee. Examples include:

  • water damage

  • mold or odors

  • missing pages

  • torn-off covers

  • heavy marker or coloring over text

  • pet damage

  • major stains

Replacement fees help maintain the quality of our circulating inventory.

7. Lost or Missing Books

If a book is missing:

  • and marked as “kept,” → replacement fee applies.

  • and not confirmed, → swap pauses until resolved.

  • and USPS lost the return, → you are never charged.

Missing books must be resolved before additional swaps or cancellation.

8. Pause Mode

Your account may be placed in Pause Mode if:

  • a bundle is outstanding

  • books are missing or unconfirmed

  • payment fails

  • replacement fees are unpaid

  • there is a customer service concern

Pause Mode temporarily stops:

  • new swaps

  • shipping

  • cancellations

  • account modifications

Once the issue is resolved, your account resumes normal operation.

9. Refund Policy

Membership fees are non-refundable.

Refunds are only issued in cases of:

  • duplicate billing

  • accidental double signup

  • system error causing incorrect charges

  • billing after cancellation due to technical error

Refunds are not issued for:

  • unused time

  • dissatisfaction with book selection

  • late returns or delayed swaps

  • changes in availability

  • forgetting to cancel

  • swaps paused due to missing/damaged books

  • USPS delays outside our control

10. Shipping Policy

  • Bundles ship twice weekly (Tuesday & Friday).

  • Delivery times vary by region.

  • Return labels are prepaid and must be used for all returns.

  • Customers are responsible for safely packaging returned books.

  • USPS delays do not qualify for refunds.

  • Lost returns are covered by The Book Nest at no cost to the member.

11. Nest Eggs (If Enabled)

Nest Eggs are reward credits issued for donating gently-loved books.

  • Nest Eggs have no cash value.

  • Credits are non-transferable and non-refundable.

  • Nest Eggs may be redeemed only as specified.

The Book Nest may modify or discontinue the program at any time.

12. Founding Family Pricing

Founding Family pricing:

  • is limited to the first 25 members

  • is locked in permanently while the membership remains active

  • expires if the membership is canceled or lapses

  • may not be reinstated

13. Intellectual Property

All branding, logos, text, graphics, and site content are the property of The Book Nest and may not be copied, reused, or reproduced without permission.

14. Service Modifications

The Book Nest reserves the right to:

  • adjust pricing

  • update membership features

  • modify policies

  • discontinue services

  • update these terms at any time

Changes will be communicated through email or website updates.

Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of updated terms.

15. Limitation of Liability

The Book Nest is not responsible for:

  • postal delays

  • damage during shipping

  • allergic reactions to book materials

  • lost mail due to incorrect addresses

  • customer misuse of books

  • indirect or incidental damages

Your use of the service is at your own discretion.
